The connector is a kind of component that electronic engineers often contact. Its function is very simple: in the circuit is blocked or isolated between the circuit, set up a bridge of communication, so that the current flow, so that the circuit to achieve the intended function. The connector is an indispensable part of electronic equipment. When you observe the current flow path, you will always find one or more connectors.
The form and structure of connectors are ever-changing. There are different types of connectors with different application objects, frequency, power, application environment, etc. For example, the connector for lighting on the court and the connector for the hard disk drive, as well as the connector for igniting rockets, are quite different. However, no matter what kind of standard power connectors, it is necessary to ensure that the current flows smoothly, continuously and reliably.
Generally speaking, the connector is not only connected with the current. With the rapid development of optoelectronic technology, in the optical fibre system, the carrier of signal transmission is light, glass and plastic instead of the wire in the ordinary circuit. However, connectors are also used in the optical signal path, and their functions are the same as circuit board connector types.
Reason for using:
Imagine what it would be like without a connector? In this case, the circuit shall be permanently and well-connected with a continuous conductor. For example, if the electronic device is to be connected to the power supply, both ends of the connecting wire must be firmly connected with the electronic device and the power supply by some means (such as welding). In this way, no matter for production or use, it brings a lot of inconvenience.
Take the car battery for example. Assuming that the battery cable is fixed and welded on the battery, the automobile factory will increase the workload, production time and cost for installing the battery. When the battery is damaged and needs to be replaced, the car shall be sent to the maintenance station, the old one shall be removed by desoldering, and then the new one shall be welded, for which more labour costs shall be paid. With automotive grade connectors, you can get rid of many troubles. You can buy a new battery from the store, disconnect the connector, remove the old battery, install a new battery, and reconnect the connector.
This example illustrates the benefits of connectors. It makes the design and production process more convenient and flexible and reduces the production and maintenance costs.
Benefits:
1. Improve production process;
2. Connectors simplify the assembly process of electronic products, mass production process and maintenance;
3. If an electronic component fails, the failed component can be replaced quickly when the connector is installed for upgrading;
4. With the development of technology, the components can be updated when the connector is installed, and the new and more perfect components can replace the old ones;
5. Using connectors gives engineers greater flexibility in designing and integrating new products, as well as in building systems out of components;
